Rock music was ruling the music world during the 70's and 80's. Many bands and individual singers possessed exceptional talents in Rock music during this period. There are many forms of rock music such as Punk rock, Pop rock and Pop punk. Each one is adapting various styles and different genre. Some are very hard and others are light satisfying both aggressive and melodious music lovers. Heavy metal or metal was another type of aggressive style of music that was extremely popular during 60’s and 70's.
Punk rock was very popular in the US, Europe and Australia during mid 70's. Punk rock consisted anti-establishment genres. As many rebellious youth and teens were attracted toward this form of music, parents hated this type of music. Punk rock was entirely distanced from mainstream rock of 70's and shed away instrumentation completely. Its lyrics were often based on sex and scandalous themes. Due to this characteristic, the popularity of Punk music began fading in the late 70's and paved ways for alternative rocks.
Pop music basically consisted of cheerful, happy and faster rhythms. Its lyrics mainly revolve around sex, love and relationships with dance. Pop genre is never used to express sorrow, tragedy or serious issues. It also never revolved around preaching or creating inspiration. Michael Jackson mastered this type of pop and became the King of Pop during 80's. Pop punk was a fusion of punk rock and pop music. This style of music has faster rhythm compared to pure punk.
Heavy metal was very popular in 60's and 70's. Bruce Dickenson and James Hatfield were popular singers of heavy metal style. Metal lyrics were generally based on sex, love or death. Thrash metal was more aggressive than loud and conventional metal bands. Death metal band was another form of metal that basically hovered around aggressive acts or violence. Thus the world of pop music underwent tremendous changes during 70's and 90's. |
