Every music lover should be thankful to the music of the 80s, as it served as the predecessor to the current music. The music industry in 80 underwent tremendous changes. The disco that was ruling the music world during 70’s literally died. The punk rock was slowly disappearing and the New wave era slowly started gaining impetus. 80’s saw number of popular musicians with extraordinary talents. Singers such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and the Police provided spectacular music feast to the music lovers. Madonna literally created sensation in 80’s with her blonde image and electrifying voice. Her live concerts stirred men and women, especially teens and youths. Michael Jackson had been the King of Pop till mid 80s. He created his own themes in every concert and they became a roaring success among his music lovers. The Thriller released in 1983 took him to the top of the music world. Michael Jackson has given innumerable albums and commanded respect all over the world for his unique style and astonishing stage performance. Michael Jackson has now started touring again and is soon to be touring around the UK. The young and stylish Whitney Houston had ruled the pop music world during 80’s with her unique way of presentation and high technicality. These exceptional talents made her as one of the outstanding singers of the decade.
Prince was one of the charismatic and versatile singers of 80s. His Purple Majesty produced number of exceptional albums. The Police was the most successful band during 80s with its outstanding performance. Most of their performances were a blend of rock, punk and reggae with pop in unique combinations. Every Breath You Take is one of the famous albums of this band. Bands such as Van Halen, Quite Riod and Motley Crue became popular in the end of the decade. Hip hop gained prominence in early 80s with popular bands such as Kurtis Blow and LL Cool J. Bands such as Afrika Bambaataa, the Soulsonic Forces and the Furious Five had invented new styles in Hip hop and became an instant success.
