Among them the 70’s were regarded as golden ages for pop music. New music styles such as disco, heavy metal, punk rock and electronics became apparent during this period. There were various hits including Long time from by Boston, Let the Good Times Roll from Cars, Le Freak from Chic, and Dancing in the Moonlight from King Harvest. There were many popular artists and bands such as Alvin Stardust, Blondie, Boney M, George McCrae, Gwen Dickey and Vanity Fare who flourished in this period.

 

Boney M became the top music band with its unique Caribbean and Tropical theme was lead by singer Liz Mitchell. They gave many hits in 70’s such as Rivers of Babylon, Brown girl in the ring, Rasputin, etc. Even today these songs create a refreshing sensation among old time music lovers. Alvin Stardust became instant hit in 1974 with his all time favorites Jealous Mind, My Coo-Ca-Choo. His other hits include Pretend, Red Dress and You You You.

 

Blondie has been ruling the music world for 20 years since the 70s and 80s. Heart of the Glass was their masterpiece and created a record in selling in 1979. Other hits include Atomic, Sunday Girl, the Tide is High and various other popular numbers. George McCrae had emerged as the number one disco artist all over the world with his instant hits such as Rock Your Baby, It’s Been So Long and I Can’t Leave You.

In 1976 Brotherhood of Man became number one band with their popular hits such as Save Your Kisses For Me. This song created world record with sales of over 5 million copies. Brotherhood of Man became popular in more than 30 countries. The band Eruption was lead by Precious Wilson consisting of 2 singers and 5 musicians and became popular in 70s. Their style was identical to Boney M. ABBA was the notable band during 80’s that created sensation all over the world. In the flip side music world suffered huge loses in 70’s with the demise of Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix. The contribution of numerous artists have transformed music into what it is today.
